February 28, 2008 HRWC Bioreserve Project receives CFSEM Grant
The Bioreserve Project at HRWC has been awarded a $65,000 grant from the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan (CFSEM) for support to assess and preserve high quality natural areas in Southeast Michigan’s Huron River Watershed.
January 10, 2008 HRWC Completes Study of Impacts from Transfer of Development Rights
HRWC has completed an 18-month project that studied the use of Transfer of Development Rights (TDR) as a tool for protecting priority natural areas and agricultural lands. The project findings are presented in the new report Potential Impacts of TDR for Michigan Communities: The Huron River Watershed Scenarios which can be downloaded from a link on HRWC's TDR webpage.

October 15, 2007 HRWC to Host Riparian Buffer Open House in Scio Township
HRWC will host an open house in Scio Township on Tuesday, October 23. Three other open houses will also be held: Putnam Township - Saturday, Nov. 10; Ypsilanti Township - Wednesday, Nov. 14; Green Oaks Township - Tuesday, Nov. 27. July 12, 2006 HRWC Announces Training for Mill Creek "Detectives"
HRWC will host two training sessions on soil erosion and sedimentation issues in Mill Creek. Participants will learn to identify and report soil erosion and sedimentation problems that occur on active construction sites and existing development. Participants will leave the training as the "eyes and ears" for the creek with the tools they need to protect Mill Creek from further sediment damage. These trainings are made possible by a grant from the U.S. EPA and MDRQ to address the high prioity pollutants affecting water quality in Mill Creek and the Huron River.
